OUR HISTORY 

June 2006

Pacific EMS is started by our CEO, Graham Williamson, himself an experienced paramedic and emergency response professional. We begin operations with a single ground ambulance, and quickly grow our fleet of private ground ambulances, focusing on providing patient transportation and medical transport throughout British Columbia. Pacific EMS creates British Columbia’s first private Critical Care Transport Team to support the emergency movement of critically ill and injured patients between medical facilities.

December 2006

Pacific EMS undertakes our first cross border long distance ground ambulance transport. Utilizing a growing fleet of private ground ambulances used for medical transport and emergency response, the Pacific EMS Critical Care Transport team is dispatched to Seattle, Washington to bring an injured Canadian traveler home to the Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster, BC.

January 2008

The team at Pacific EMS is operating a growing and increasingly busy emergency services enterprise. With a large fleet of private ground ambulances and medical transport vehicles, the paramedic staff at Pacific EMS are increasingly busy with dispatch runs to medical transport and inter-facility patient transfer calls.

In order to broaden their scope of work as paramedic professionals, our CEO creates our iMED – or Industrial Paramedic Services team. The iMED team focuses on providing high level, topside medical care to industry and resource development clients in British Columbia. Pacific EMS onboards notable clients such as BC Hydro and the BC Wildfire Service, who begin utilizing Pacific EMS for their private emergency medical response needs.

April 2009

Pacific EMS undertakes it’s first ground ambulance rental contract, by supplying part of our private ground ambulance fleet under rental agreement to the North American Construction Group on a pipeline project in Dawson Creek.

June 2009

The Pacific EMS ShowMED team is launched – our medical support and ambulance standby division that caters to special operations events, planned events that require ambulance paramedic support, as well as on site paramedic standby and medical care for the film and television industry in British Columbia. Pacific EMS receives our first major event contract, providing ambulances, paramedics and an emergency room physician to cover and support the BC Bike Race, as hundreds of mountain bike riders converge for a grueling race across the West Coast of British Columbia.

July 2010

With wildfires a growing threat to British Columbia, Pacific EMS mobilizes our iMED and GroundMED ambulance paramedic teams to provide emergency medical care, onsite medical support and emergency first aid services to the BC Wildfire Service. Over several hot, grueling and demanding summer wildfire seasons, the GroundMED paramedic support teams at Pacific EMS support the BC Wildfire with our 4×4 Mobile Treatment Centres, Emergency Transport Vehicles and Ground Ambulances.

January 2015

With the growth and development of the LNG and natural gas exploration and development industry in British Columbia, Pacific EMS expands our presence in Northeast British Columbia with the opening of our Fort St. John base for on-site medical support, Mobile Treatment Centres and First Aid support for Western Canada’s exploration industry. From our Fort St. John office, Pacific EMS provides Mobile Treatment Centres to major exploration companies such as Progress Energy / Petronas, as British Columbia’s nascent industry begins to grow and develop.

Our CEO, Graham Williamson, is invited to represent British Columbia as part of the British Columbia trade delegation that travels to South Korea, Japan and China, promoting British Columbia’s growing resource economy and LNG business. Pacific EMS paramedics are staged across British Columbia, providing medical transport, and on site medical support solutions to a variety of clients.

June 2015

Wildfires across British Columbia explode in one of the busiest seasons on record. Pacific EMS is called upon by the BC Wildfire Service to mobilize all available resources to support the response effort. Paramedics from Pacific EMS play a critical role in supporting firefighters who are engaged in extremely dangerous work. Treating a variety of injuries, and evacuating injured firefighters by helicopter medevac is part of daily work undertaken by our paramedics on the front line.

January 2016

Pacific EMS has become the global “Go-To” provider for complex, high risk international medical evacuations from remote areas. The medical team at Pacific EMS is directly engaged in providing frontline medical evacuation overseas in extremely remote, hard to reach areas around the world, in conflict zones such as Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as areas closed for political and security reasons. Under the direct leadership of our CEO, Pacific EMS becomes the noted name in the industry for handling these highly complex, global evacuation case files.

Pacific EMS is hired by the Interior Health Authority to assist in solving complex staffing issues within their Critical Care Transport program. We provide Critical Care Registered Nurses to the High Acuity Response Team (HART Program). Pacific EMS stations our critical care resources throughout Interior Health at specific locations who begin transporting critically ill patients over long distances from remote areas, to definitive tertiary care centres.

June 2017

Pacific EMS’s growing presence in the travel medical insurance and emergency travel assistance industry continues to expand. Pacific EMS is called upon on a regular basis to support the movement of medical transport patients by ground ambulance throughout and across a variety of health authorities. This includes providing long distance ground ambulance transport between British Columbia and Alberta for insurance companies such as Pacific Blue Cross, Manulife Financial, and RBC Royal Bank Travel Insurance.

The ShowMED Team at Pacific EMS continues to provide paramedic support and private ground ambulance medical standby to events and festivals, including our regular presence at the Mission Raceway where on site paramedic and ambulance standby is critical to the success of the event.

May 2018

Pacific EMS launches a dedicated cruise ship medical rescue program for Canadian travelers who are sailing to remote regions in Alaska. Using King Air 300 model turbo prop aircraft, Pacific EMS medical transport crews are undertaking an increasing number of medevac missions directly from remote cruise ports in and around Alaska. Our medical transport teams are evacuating patients who fall severely ill or become injured while at sea, directly from Skagway, Juneau and the remote location of Dutch Harbour. Patients are evacuated on our medevac planes to Vancouver, British Columbia.

March 2020

With COVID in full swing, under the leadership of our CEO, Pacific EMS creates one of the first private COVID 19 screening companies in British Columbia. Throughout the pandemic, we test over 400,000 customers who required private COVID-19 travel screening, or screening for work in television or industry. Pacific EMS continues to provide on site medical support to our clients who’s important, critical work does not stop as a result of the pandemic. Our EMS and private ground ambulance infrastructure is put to the test throughout the pandemic, but we focus on our core values – that Trust Matters and Experience Counts. Through maintaining the trust of our exceptional and loyal client base, and by leveraging our extensive experience as British Columbia’s top provider of out-of-hospital medical providers, Pacific EMS delivers under the most enduring circumstances.

Our global medical evacuation team continues to respond to a variety of high profile, complex evacuation missions throughout the pandemic. With closed borders and severe restrictions imposed around the world by governments, Pacific EMS is called upon to navigate the most challenging and difficult circumstances in order to ensure that our client’s needs are met. Pacific EMS continues to deliver.

January 2021

Pacific EMS is selected by Matcon Environmental to provide medical support and paramedic coverage to the Village of Lytton which is rebuilding after a devastating wildfire. Pacific EMS stations a paramedic and ground ambulance in Lytton as part of the reconstruction efforts under a two year, long term contract.

February 2021

Pacific EMS launches the first rapid testing solution in British Columbia in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Rapid testing is just coming into being when Pacific EMS secures a reliable, dedicated supply of rapid tests. Pacific EMS is approached by a number of corporations engaged in mining, resource development and energy, and begins screening thousands of workers using rapid testing technology, which we secured ahead of all other competitors.

Pacific EMS now has the largest presence for rapid testing in British Columbia, with several clinic locations established throughout the province, with our notable flagship location at the Vancouver International Airport.

April 2021

Exploration work continues throughout British Columbia with major resource production companies continuing to search for critical minerals and resources. Paramedics play an important role in supporting on site medical care, safety and support. Pacific EMS is hired by a major mining company to provide COVID-19 screening services and rapid testing to a large fly in, fly out work group who are developing a mine in Northwest BC. Pacific EMS is hired by Teck Resources to provide 24 hour medical support with Mobile Treatment Centres and Paramedics on a remote drilling operation, their regular medical provider has shut down due to COVID-19, but Pacific EMS continues to deliver for our clients, despite the challenging circumstances, we continue rise to the occasion. BC Hydro contracts with Pacific EMS to provide a long term ground ambulance rental at the Site C Hydro project in Fort St John.

June 2021

Work continues in the Middle East, despite closed borders and the most challenging circumstances ever presented to our global corporate clients. Pacific EMS is called upon by our global corporate group of clients to organize medical and security evacuations from heavily locked down, remote locations.

Working with major contactors and their insurance providers who are hired by the United States Department of Defense to deliver critical infrastructure at remote US Military installations around the globe, Pacific EMS becomes the provider of choice for organizing medical and security evacuations for contracted workforces in Iraq, Afghanistan, Africa and remote parts of the Atlantic and Pacific regions. On a regular basis, we are operating mid-size and heavy private jet aircraft into and out of conflict areas such as Erbil, Iraq, Bagram Afghanistan, and extremeley remote areas such as the Ascension Islands.

October 2022

Film and Television continues to thrive in British Columbia. Pacific EMS paramedics play a vital role in protecting the actors, performers and support staff on film and television productions throughout British Columbia. We travel to remote locations in the BC Interior, and to remote beaches on Vancouver Island with our film crew partners, providing emergency medical care and first aid services with our private ground ambulances and paramedics on standby.

April 2023

Pacific EMS partners with Thunderbird Show Park in Langley, BC to provide on site ambulance support upgrades to the Paramedic team at Thunderbird Show Park. Pacific EMS arranges new, life saving vital medical equipment to support the paramedic team during high profile equestrian events at this world class venue, where members of international Olympic teams compete. Pacific EMS ground ambulances are on standby at each show.

June 2023

The summer season is in full swing. All divisions within Pacific EMS are running at full capacity, providing on site medical support, medical transport and EMS solutions to our clients. Each week, Pacific EMS ambulances travel on long distance ground ambulance transport missions between BC and Alberta. Our ShowMED paramedics are at client sites daily, including providing high level paramedic standby to the Vancouver Whitecaps Soccer Team at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver.
